Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 15, 2026

The Intersect (“we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes a website and email newsletter at theintersect.art examining the reciprocal influences of technology and the arts. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you provide. When you subscribe, you give us your email address and, optionally, your name. If you reply to one of our emails or contact us, we receive the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the site or open our emails, we and our service providers may collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site or link that referred you.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Usermaven (cookieless analytics). We use Usermaven to understand aggregate usage of the site — which pages are popular and where visitors come from. Usermaven is privacy-first and cookieless: it does not set cookies, build cross-site profiles, or store personal identifiers on your device.

Meta (Facebook) Pixel. We use the Meta Pixel to measure and improve our advertising. The Pixel sets cookies and shares certain activity (such as page views) with Meta so we can understand ad performance and reach relevant audiences. You can control this through your Meta ad preferences and your browser’s cookie settings — see “Your choices and rights” below.

How we use information

  • To send you the newsletter and the updates you signed up for
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the site and its content
  • To measure and improve our advertising and understand what resonates
  • To respond to your replies, questions, and requests
  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run The Intersect:

  • Ghost — our website, membership, and newsletter platform
  • Mailgun — delivery of our newsletter emails
  • Usermaven — cookieless site analytics
  • Meta — advertising measurement via the Meta Pixel

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

Data retention

We keep your subscriber information for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we remove it from our active systems; limited copies may remain in backups or where retention is required by law.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
  • Access, correct, or delete your information by emailing hello@theintersect.art.
  • Depending on where you live — for example the EU, EEA, or UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA — you may have additional rights to access, port, restrict, object to, or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise them.
  • Opt out of ad targeting through your Meta ad settings (facebook.com/adpreferences) and your browser’s cookie controls.

Children’s privacy

The Intersect is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

International visitors

Our platforms and service providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. If you access the site from outside those countries, you understand your information may be processed where our providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the effective date shown at the top of this page.
